Lettering Style Challenge 2024

We just wrapped up another round of the Lettering Style Challenge and I'm so excited to share about this incredible experience with you!

All through October, a bunch of creatives (myself included!) went on this wild lettering adventure. We posted a new lettering piece daily on Instagram following the Lettering Style Challenge prompt list below.

 Goal: The goal was to improve our lettering skills and discover our unique lettering style. 

Rules: Just like in previous years, we could use any preferred medium to create a lettering piece each day for 31 days, starting on October 1st. The only restriction was to follow the provided list of hand lettering and typography prompts designed to spark our creativity.

My Take: I always recommend following a theme for the challenge and for me, this year’s challenge was all about creating lettering that embodies the personality of famous eponymous characters. The goal was to design lettering that captures the essence and personality of these characters, reflecting their unique traits and stories through dynamic, expressive letterforms. 

This challenge wasn't just about flexing my creative muscles, it helped me stumble upon some new tricks and styles that I can't wait to use in my future projects. It reinforced my belief in the power of practice and the importance of creating the kind of work you aspire to be hired for.

I'm seriously blown away by everyone who jumped in and shared their amazing creations. The community's support and creativity never cease to inspire me. Here's to pushing our boundaries and continuing to grow as artists!
